I decided to challenge myself to make a more interesting and dynamic image. My spoon is taped to the countertop, and I added a black fabric background. My flash was off-camera to the back left side and I added a snoot to direct the light. The liquid is acrylic paint thinned with water.

The theme for the week is kitchen. I used an old-fashioned crinkle cutter for the subject and had three extension tubes on my 100mm macro lens to get up close and fill the frame. For the lighting, I used a desk lamp with an orange gel on the right and my ice light with a blue gel on the left to achieve this effect. Once again, I was able to use a family heirloom for my photo subject. The theme for the week is brush. This isn't exactly an original interpretation of the theme, but time constraints today limited my choices. I have been doing some interior painting in my house and would have preferred to use a paintbrush, as it would serve double -duty for me as subject for the week and a representation of what I am working on in my life currently.

Today is the Monday after Thanksgiving, and I am grateful for the opportunity to participate in creative pursuits. The theme for the week is toothpicks. I used my toothpicks to create this extremely awkward little snowman made from a cut-up marshmallow, Red Hots as the necklace, peppercorns for eyes and buttons, a fruit roll for hair, and a half pistachio as a cap.

It feels silly to focus my attention on my photo project sometimes, but I hope this might bring a smile and change someone's day for the better. There is so much suffering right now - friends and family dealing with loss and uncertainty. This feels like a small gesture, if only for a moment, I hope to bring whimsy and play in order to provide some respite from the stress.
